One of my favorite places to languish in the late afternoon, early evening is a local Carmel Valley restaurant, Los Laureles Lodge. It’s a throwback to a time when pubs were popular neighborhood gathering spot, nothing fancy, just a well-worn-dark-wood-walls and pub-table-and-chairs type of place. A cozy-comfy warren of smallish rooms with low light and dark carpet from the seventies.
Nothing fancy here, just solid pub-type options like Fish & Chips, BBQ Ribs with Baked Beans, Salmon Tacos, Club Sandwich on Sourdough, you get the picture, right? Happy Hour on the patio under a heat lamp, with old friends and their dogs is a joyful experience. Try it, you’ll like it. But make a reservation if your party is larger than two, this place is always popular.
